Manuscript Type
Manuscript Types Accepted
Provider Jurnal Ilmu Pemerintahan (PROJIP) considers the following types of scholarly manuscripts for peer review and publication, provided that they establish a clear, substantive connection with the journal’s focus and scope in governmental studies, public policy, public administration, local governance, and political-institutional dynamics:
1. Original Research Articles (Empirical Studies)
Empirical investigations reporting original findings based on qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods approaches.
- Focus: Field-based governance issues, decentralization, electoral studies, bureaucratic reform, public service delivery, e-government, and civil society-state interactions.
- Requirements: Manuscripts must articulate a sound research problem, outline a rigorous methodology (data collection protocols, sampling/informant selection, analytical frameworks), critically discuss the findings against current scholarly debates, and clearly demonstrate theoretical and practical contributions.
2. Conceptual and Theoretical Articles
Manuscripts that formulate, refine, integrate, or critically interrogate concepts, theoretical paradigms, models, or institutional frameworks in governmental and political science.
- Focus: Democratic theory, institutionalism, modern public governance paradigms, policy networks, or political ecology.
- Requirements: Submissions must present a rigorous, coherent scholarly argument firmly grounded in primary and contemporary literature, demonstrating a distinct conceptual contribution rather than a mere descriptive summary of existing literature.
3. Systematic Literature Reviews and Bibliometric Analyses
Comprehensive studies that systematically synthesize existing research or evaluate publication trends and intellectual structures in governance and political science.
- Focus: Thematic meta-syntheses on emerging public sector topics (e.g., smart governance, collaborative governance trends, political budgeting reforms).
- Requirements: Authors must detail the methodological protocol (e.g., PRISMA standards, search string syntax, database sources like Scopus/WoS/Dimensions, screening criteria, and analytical tools such as VOSviewer or R-Bibliometrix) to guarantee transparency, validity, and reproducibility.
4. In-Depth Case Studies & Policy Analyses
Empirical, research-based analyses focusing on specific government agencies, local jurisdictions, regional policies, village governance (pemerintahan desa), community-state dynamics, or specific administrative reform initiatives.
- Focus: Evaluative policy studies, institutional innovations, crisis governance, and comparative regional administrative practices.
- Requirements: Manuscripts must explicitly justify case selection criteria, detail analytical frameworks (e.g., process tracing, comparative policy frameworks), and deliver conceptual implications that extend beyond local descriptivism to inform broader governance discourse.
5. Methodological Studies
Articles that develop, adapt, validate, or evaluate innovative research methods, analytical techniques, indices, or measurement instruments tailored to public policy and governance research.
- Focus: Governance indices, public sentiment analysis on political issues, participatory deliberation tools, or civic engagement measurement models.
- Requirements: Manuscripts must supply empirical validation, assess limitations, and clearly explain how the proposed methodology advances empirical research in government and public sector studies.
Submission & Formatting Requirements
- Manuscript Classification: Authors must designate the specific manuscript type during submission in the Open Journal Systems (OJS) metadata interface.
- Scholarly Rigor: Regardless of type, every manuscript must demonstrate originality, rigorous analytical grounding, academic integrity, and strict adherence to the scope of PROJIP.
- Structure and Template: Manuscripts must be formatted in accordance with the official PROJIP Manuscript Template and Author Guidelines. While empirical papers should follow the standard structure (Introduction, Research Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, References), conceptual articles, reviews, and methodological studies may adapt internal subheadings to suit the nature of the inquiry, subject to editorial approval.
