Post-Publication Discussion

Post-Publication Discussion Policy

Provider Jurnal Ilmu Pemerintahan (PROJIP) encourages academic debate and evidence-based post-publication dialogue. Scholarly discourse contributes to self-correction, theoretical refinement, and critical engagement in governmental studies, public policy analysis, public administration, and political institutional dynamics.

Readers, researchers, and practitioners may submit methodological inquiries, alternative theoretical interpretations, empirical replications, or substantive critique regarding articles published in PROJIP.

  1. Submitting a Scholarly Comment

Submissions intended for post-publication discussion must be directed to the editorial office via email (redaksiprojip@gmail.com) with the subject line:

Scholarly Comment – [Article Title or DOI]

Submissions must include:

  • Article Details: The exact title, volume, issue, publication year, and registered DOI of the targeted article.
  • Substantive Focus: A clear, concise critique focusing exclusively on the scholarly content (e.g., conceptual frameworks, survey/interview instruments, statistical analysis, or policy interpretations) rather than personal attributes of the authors.
  • Distinction of Claims: Clear differentiation between demonstrable factual/methodological flaws, unresolved analytical questions, and legitimate differences in political or administrative interpretation.
  • Evidence & References: Verifiable supporting data, policy documents, legislative references, or academic literature.
  • Declarations: Full contributor details (names, institutional affiliations, ORCID iDs) and an explicit Conflict of Interest statement.
  • Privacy Compliance: Omission of confidential administrative data or identifying participant/informant details from governmental field studies.
  1. Editorial Assessment and Author Right of Response
  1. Preliminary Review: The Editor-in-Chief and handling editors evaluate the submitted comment for scholarly relevance, tone, methodological rigor, and value to the academic discourse. Frivolous, polemical, defamatory, or purely ideological statements will be rejected without further process.
  2. Author Notification and Response: If a comment is deemed constructive and substantively grounded, the original authors will be invited to submit a formal Author Reply within a specified timeframe (typically 14 to 21 days).
  3. Independent Assessment: The opportunity to reply does not grant original authors a veto over valid academic criticism. Conversely, legitimate differences in scholarly opinion do not automatically guarantee acceptance for formal publication.
  4. External Scholarly Platforms: Substantive critiques raised on recognized scholarly forums (e.g., PubPeer) may be taken into consideration by the editorial board if brought to their attention.

  1. Publication Format and Status
  • Commentary Pairing: Where publication is warranted, the approved Scholarly Comment and the corresponding Author Reply are published concurrently in an upcoming issue. Both documents are assigned distinct DOIs and bi-directionally cross-linked to the original article on the OJS platform.
  • Review Level: Editorially reviewed correspondence and commentaries are explicitly labeled as such, distinguishing them from standard peer-reviewed original research articles.
  • Independent Research Submissions: Submissions that expand into independent empirical investigations, counter-studies, or new theoretical models must be submitted via OJS as regular research articles and will undergo the standard double-blind peer review process.
  • Academic Freedom & Creative Commons: This correspondence channel does not restrict lawful, external scholarly critique or reuse of content distributed under the journal's Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) licensing.
