Electronic Archiving

ELECTRONIC ARCHIVING & PRESERVATION

Electronic Filing

Electronic filing, used here to mean electronic archiving, concerns the retention and protection of published articles and their associated metadata in Hulondalo Jurnal Ilmu Pemerintahan dan Ilmu Komunikasi (HJIPIK). Its primary purpose is to ensure the integrity, recovery, and continuous availability of the scholarly record.

The journal establishes the following operational distinctions:

Online Issue Archives: Public access to previously published issues and articles through the official HJIPIK journal website.

  • Electronic Backup: Routine copies of publication files, PDFs, and system databases maintained to support recovery following data disruptions or hardware failures.
  • Long-Term Digital Preservation: Arrangements intended to maintain access to published content beyond the operational lifespan of the journal website or the publisher.
  • Author Self-Archiving: Permissions granted to authors to deposit published manuscript versions in digital repositories.

Preservation Status

In accordance with the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, HJIPIK clarifies that the public availability of articles on the journal website, permissions for repository deposits, and the assignment of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) do not represent certified independent long-term external digital preservation. Published articles are currently archived and accessible through national indexing databases (such as GARUDA) and institutional collection records.

Preservation Planning

The editorial management of HJIPIK aims to formalize arrangements covering published article files, bibliographic metadata, and correction/retraction notices. The journal is currently working toward full compliance and technical verification with distributed preservation systems (including the PKP Preservation Network / LOCKSS). Any future statement declaring participation in specific preservation services will only be published once active deposit status has been verified.

Author Self-Archiving Policy

Authors are permitted and encouraged to deposit the published version (Publisher's PDF) of their manuscripts in their respective institutional or disciplinary repositories, provided that proper bibliographic citation and DOI links to HJIPIK are included.
