Types of Manuscripts
Hulondalo: Jurnal Ilmu Pemerintahan dan Ilmu Komunikasi (JIPIK) considers the following types of scholarly manuscripts, provided that they establish a clear and substantive connection with the journal’s focus and scope:
1. Original Research Articles
Empirical studies reporting original findings based on quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods research in the fields of governmental studies, public administration, public policy, or communication studies. Manuscripts should present a clear research problem, explain the methods used, and discuss the findings and their contribution to knowledge, policy, or public communication practice.
2. Conceptual and Theoretical Articles
Articles that develop, refine, integrate, or critically examine concepts, theories, models, or frameworks relevant to governance, politics, public policy, media, or communication dynamics. Manuscripts must provide a coherent scholarly argument grounded in relevant literature and demonstrate a distinct theoretical contribution.
3. Systematic Literature Reviews and Bibliometric Studies
Studies that systematically synthesize existing research or examine publication patterns in governance, public sector management, or communication scholarship. Manuscripts should explicitly explain their search strategy, data sources, selection criteria, and analytical procedures to ensure transparency and reproducibility.
4. Case Studies
Research-based analyses of specific governmental bodies, public policies, local administrations, civic movements, community initiatives, or communication campaigns. Manuscripts should clearly explain the rationale for case selection, data collection methods, and analytical framework, demonstrating implications beyond a purely descriptive account.
5. Methodological Studies
Articles that develop, adapt, compare, or evaluate research methods, analytical techniques, measurement instruments, or analytical approaches relevant to social, governmental, and communication research. Manuscripts must provide adequate validation or evaluation and clearly articulate the practical or methodological value added.
Submission Requirements:
Authors should identify their manuscript type upon submission. Each submission must demonstrate originality, adequate scholarly grounding, a clear contribution to governance or communication scholarship, and an analytical approach appropriate to its designated manuscript type.
Manuscript Preparation:
Authors must adhere to JIPIK's Author Guidelines and official manuscript template. The organization of conceptual papers, reviews, and case studies may be adapted to suit the nature of the research, with any necessary variations from the standard IMRAD research structure justified in the cover letter to the editor.
